Conventional Oil

Conventional oil is best used for older, lower mileage vehicles that do not have complicated engines. It's a very base-level, budget-friendly oil option, but not the best choice for cars that are more modern and that have advanced engines. When to Change It: Conventional oil changes follow a classic - once every 3,000 miles What if I use something else? When it comes to using something other than conventional oil, using a better oil is never going to be a bad thing. However, this goes for all oil, following your owner's manual is the best way to know what your car truly needs to run optimally.

Semi-Synthetic Oil

What is it? Semi-synthetic is a crowd-pleaser. Unless you're driving a high-end performance car, semi-synthetic has a middle price range, is good for 95% of modern cars and although is more expensive up front, it lasts longer and is better for your engine. When to Change It: Semi-synthetic oil needs to be changed between every 6,000 to 9,000 miles. Really just depending on driving habits. What if I use something else? Using different oils on your car can put a lot of strain on the engine. However, semi-synthetic is a true crowd-pleaser in that if you do for some reason switch between oils, this one is the best way to ease into a switch.

Full-Synthetic Oil

Full synthetic oil is for more your performance cars. It's a much more expensive oil that was developed to ensure your engine stays clean and your vehicle performs exceptionally. When to Change It: Full-synthetic oil can last to about 10,000 miles. What if I use something else? If your car requires full-synthetic oil, we highly recommending following that. Using less aggressive oil can severely damage your car.

Hybrid Oil

Hybrid oil is made for exactly the special kind of car it sounds like - a hybrid. When to Change It: Hybrids need a little more TLC depending on which hybrid oil you get. Typically they also follow the 3,000-mile rule, but depending on driving habits, can get up to 7,000 miles. What if I use something else? Hybrids are unique in every way. Straying away from the recommended care can put your vehicle at risk for failure.

Diesel Oil

If you drive a diesel truck, oil changes are designed for engines that use diesel, not regular car oil. When to Change It: Depending on what level of oil you buy, the range is from 3,000 to even 10,000 miles. What if I use something else? You won't want to.
